 Summary
The forests give a series of positive environmental benefices, as conservation of the biological diversity, carbon sequestration; production in quantity and quality of water, landscape, education and dispersion. These services traditionally have been not considered in the national accounts and therefore they have not been valued as marketable goods.
The development of markets of Payments for Environmental Service (PES) in Chile raises a not subsidiary formula for the conservation of the environment, where the society assumes directly the costs of his conservation, and it is possible to transform in an instrument that complements the initiatives of promotion for recovery and management of the native forest, as well as guarantee a constant and clean supply of water.
The principal beneficiaries for the PSA will be the lands owners who live in the high parts of the basins, there being generated a monetary incentive that will give a new opportunity to the rural world.
The objective of this project is create the conditions to develop, promote and foment a market that values the constant provision of bines and environmental services in Chile, emphatically in the formation of capacities and diffusion of the topic to national level.
