Title: Propagation of commercial interest genotypes of Douglas Fir
The project "Propagation of commercial interest genotypes of Douglas Fir", adjudged to the Forest Institute within the framework of the National Contest of Innovation and Public Interest Projects, FDI 2002, has like general objective to increase the productivity of Douglas Fir, through the vegetative and generative propagation of select genotypes adapted to the growth conditions of the center-south zone of the country.
Methodologically, the project has three stages:
Forestry and propagation procedures, involve infrastructure implementation for the development of the activities of the project, particularly the set up of dependencies of propagation to carry out the rooting cutting workings, production of mothers plants (edges), evaluation of flowering induction techniques and production of plants for the establishment of progeny tests.
Genetic registry of Select Clones, stage that already has concluded and that corresponded to registry by means of molecular markers of the DNA of 42 select clones considered in the activities of this project.
Determination of Genotype environment correlation, This stage includes the evaluation of provenance and progeny trials of Douglas Fir, established before the beginning of this project. Such trials are a great collection of seeds originating from the United States, which was installed in three sites of the zone South center of Chile. Similarly, this stage includes the establishment and evaluation of two progeny trials of plus trees selected in national plantations.
